"I'm interested in all kinds of astronomy."
I'm here waiting until the multi-trillion dollar wunderchild of human progress finishes "Finagling..."

Btw. is it me or these pinnacles of technology only ask confirmation for `echo` when they are about to execute `echo lol && rm -rf ~/`?

@iFixit Do you see any improvements on the keycap front? My perfectly good ThinkPads become unsuable because keycaps break all the time and I can only order full keyboards (*if* I can find any!).

If you as a journalist bring up the fact the Linus Torvalds vibe-codes, but fail to add "for his guitar effect pet-project" you can consider yourself a permanent resident of the tabloid/propaganda shelf.

"Every single time you mandate , you are mandating the creation of a centralized database of extraordinarily sensitive personal information. Government IDs. facial data. The kind of data that, once breached, cannot be “changed” like a password. You get one face. You get one ID number. When those leak—and they will leak—the damage is permanent."

A few years ago I designed a way to detect bit-flips in Firefox crash reports and last year we deployed an actual memory tester that runs on user machines after the browser crashes. Today I was looking at the data that comes out of these tests and now I'm 100% positive that the heuristic is sound and a lot of the crashes we see are from users with bad memory or similarly flaky hardware. Here's a few numbers to give you an idea of how large the problem is. 🧵 1/5

what the—and I cannot stress this enough—absolute fuck:

"...sensitive and personal footage captured by [Meta Smart Glasses]—including people going to the bathroom, getting dressed, and having sex—is being reviewed by contractors who see all of it uncensored."

In my online undergraduate P5.js course, students are about to begin the module on motion and physics, including a bit of physics simulation using Matter.js. It suddenly occurred to me that I had never seen anybody put together this particular demo before, and I realized it had to be done. Messy source code at https://editor.p5js.org/isohedral/full/vJa5RiZWs.

@johnefrancis Thanks I'll include this argument in my application to rent LIGO for debugging this race condition!

Time dilation can be observed in the proximity of large masses and software that is supposed to crash.
