it’s cold (and a bit funny) how all these media orgs are running their #ChristianZiegler headlines with photos of him next to other prominent #MAGA figures.
the imputation is also accurate as hell. he’s an exemplar of their movement.
“Twitter raised concerns that prosecutors were seeking data that could be covered by executive privilege — a contention that drew incredulous responses from both prosecutors and the judge, who said Trump was unlikely to be doing government business with senior aides via Twitter DM.”
this is so stupid. OF COURSE trump was likely to be doing government business via twitter DM! the proper rebuttal should be that communications moronically conducted via non-approved, insecure channels should not be subject to the same executive privileges.
this week has seen the return of the #VariedThrush to our yard. seems to be mostly a late fall-until-early-spring guy around here.
one thing that is funny (/irritating) is #liberals (of the sort who consistently misapprehend themselves as radicals / leftists) who mistake like basic non-profit (etc) administrative functions for some kind of “liberatory” “activism” kind of thing
similar phenomenon to like “inspirational” “financial literacy” hucksters. if i’m gonna take money advice i’d prefer to hear it from someone who’s down to be frank about the grim realpolitik of resource access under late capitalism. ie. “it does suck, but here’s some options”
Police departments are spending big on media manipulation and pro-policing propaganda across the country.

X has taken its stance. Nazis on the platform are allowed. Pro-Hitler posts are allowed. Holocaust denial is allowed.
If you stay on a platform like that, you can't escape this creeping normalization. Even if you think you can.
"Oh, there goes another Holocaust denier. Just part of being online, I guess."
"Oh, another transphobe calling people dehumanizing slurs. Well that's the Internet for you."
Creeping normalization is like advertising. Even if you think it won't influence you, it will.
News of the lawsuit coincided with Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s announcing an investigation into Media Matters for possible fraudulent activity.
“It is just over,” journalist @caseynewton told The Post.
“If you wouldn’t join Gab, or Parler, or Truth Social, there’s no reason you should be on X. I think it’s time for journalists and publishers, in particular, to acknowledge the new reality and to get the heck off that website.”

Three days ago, @washingtonpost @washingtonpost reported that 1 out of every 200 people in Gaza have been killed.
That is obscene, and nobody is fucked up, antisemitic, or a “terrorism apologist” by virtue of opposing it.

this Chait piece sucks. Objecting to the wholesale slaughter of civilians in Gaza is not, in itself, #antisemitism. His “nuance” posture around this feels pretty thin & perfunctory.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT: not being an unnecessarily caustic dick on the fediverse may help prevent users from winding up on yet another comms platform controlled by a right wing billionaire.
