I’ll probably double back on this at some point - it seems like some of the Korg SDK libraries are a bit hard to approach initially too - I’m mostly just thinking of like seeing microfreak patches for sale etc - when it’s such a fun and approachable interface to make your own stuff with - seems hard to run out of ideas very quickly

also by “conventional synthesizer patches” I mean NOT stuff like elaborate puredata assemblages, norns scripts, ORCA patches, etc - all of which are a bit of a different animal IMO

They’re so fun and satisfying to make yourself - I guess if you’re trying to learn from someone else’s work it might make sense? idk

The irony is not lost on me that the Internet Archive went out of its way to acquire the physical versions of millions of books and loan them out carefully and in a limited way, and is facing a near-extinction-level event over it, while for-profit and VC-backed companies are just stealing people’s content and making up excuses to validate the bad behavior.

@t_robinart I don’t encounter music that so distinctly doesn’t work very often!

The musical score on the “going to war” montage in #houseofthedragon 2:8 is truly not working.

This week's newsletter drops today at 5 p.m. ET, so you still have about an hour to sign up if you want this edition. (We usually publish on Tuesdays, but hey, I got busy)

Still kinda reeling from the discovery that Abus, the company that makes locks and helmets, is operated by a misogynistic christian cult. “Shaped by christian principles” seems to hide a whole lot of bigotry every time.

I hope Kryptonite don’t have dark secrets, who else will I buy bike locks from if they do 😬

@flexghost those fuckers invaded pdx again and again for years, each time with the help of the cops, each time crossing state lines while articulating intent to do assaults, & each time doing assaults.

Little wonder they’re totally shocked at finally facing any consequences.

TIL that Christoper Robin, the kid whose teddy bear inspired the Winnie the Pooh stories, was credited with killing 28 Wehrmacht soldiers in the Battle of the Bulge.
