Police departments are spending big on media manipulation and pro-policing propaganda across the country.

X has taken its stance. Nazis on the platform are allowed. Pro-Hitler posts are allowed. Holocaust denial is allowed.
If you stay on a platform like that, you can't escape this creeping normalization. Even if you think you can.
"Oh, there goes another Holocaust denier. Just part of being online, I guess."
"Oh, another transphobe calling people dehumanizing slurs. Well that's the Internet for you."
Creeping normalization is like advertising. Even if you think it won't influence you, it will.
@jerry @Arataka I bet you’re already aware of “iceshrimp” - but thought I’d mention it in case it’s interesting or relevant here; I stumbled over it on fedidb, & found this reply helpful.
News of the lawsuit coincided with Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s announcing an investigation into Media Matters for possible fraudulent activity.
“It is just over,” journalist @caseynewton told The Post.
“If you wouldn’t join Gab, or Parler, or Truth Social, there’s no reason you should be on X. I think it’s time for journalists and publishers, in particular, to acknowledge the new reality and to get the heck off that website.”

Three days ago, @washingtonpost @washingtonpost reported that 1 out of every 200 people in Gaza have been killed.
That is obscene, and nobody is fucked up, antisemitic, or a “terrorism apologist” by virtue of opposing it.

this Chait piece sucks. Objecting to the wholesale slaughter of civilians in Gaza is not, in itself, #antisemitism. His “nuance” posture around this feels pretty thin & perfunctory.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT: not being an unnecessarily caustic dick on the fediverse may help prevent users from winding up on yet another comms platform controlled by a right wing billionaire.
