I gotta say - given those dynamics, it seems pretty IMPERATIVE that journalists who have built such relationships of trust with people IMMEDIATELY STOP USING #TWITTER to boost news items which they deem worthy of attention.

To me, the option of switching to a (preferably #opensource) #protocol -driven system like #activitypub seems like obvious choice, but at the very least GET THE FUCK OFF of a site that is being actively manipulated to further the spread of disinfo. Bring your audience to a more trustworthy space and stop exposing them to the (frankly fascist) disinformation campaigns which inevitably are boosted alongside your recommendations on twitter.

also tbc the other one ive been chilling on while getting familiar with the software is quite nice & full of very nice people. it’s also 16bit video game themed, not anime!
