I gotta say - given those dynamics, it seems pretty IMPERATIVE that journalists who have built such relationships of trust with people IMMEDIATELY STOP USING #TWITTER to boost news items which they deem worthy of attention.

To me, the option of switching to a (preferably #opensource) #protocol -driven system like #activitypub seems like obvious choice, but at the very least GET THE FUCK OFF of a site that is being actively manipulated to further the spread of disinfo. Bring your audience to a more trustworthy space and stop exposing them to the (frankly fascist) disinformation campaigns which inevitably are boosted alongside your recommendations on twitter.
