Reminder: There is exactly one reason why a company postpones an IPO.
That is: They wouldn't get the money they expect or need.
When I read about OpenAI delaying the IPO due to the dangers of AI, I am certain they mean the danger their AI poses to their own quarterly figures (revenue vs. cash burn) they have to publish.
In https://www.ft.com/content/dc6c9fe1-c400-490a-a4fe-8b3d5cf3334a the Financial Times write:
Anthropic and OpenAI’s bankers are lobbying for an investment-grade credit rating after their upcoming initial public offerings, a designation that would lower the borrowing costs for their ambitious AI infrastructure plans.
That rating would be as deserving as a Nobel Peace Prize for Donald Trump (or even less so).
I would view this as an plan for a heist to empty all the 401Ks to finance their AI Datacenter bonanza.

Trump sagt dazu: "Ich mache Euch das schon, aber was ist für mich da drin?"
@isotopp I really fear what happens to the midterms in the U.S.
Even a person totally devoid of empathy like Trump must know that he is not collecting any votes that way. So he has to have other plans.
@tk Historically the manager of prize fighters would incentivize sheriffs in towns to register the fists of their fighters as deadly weapons to hype up fights.
The most commonly cited origin is Joe Louis and his promotional team in the late 1930s/1940s. Accounts describe Louis’s promoters arranging for a police officer to appear at weigh-ins and ceremonially “register” Louis’s hands as deadly or lethal weapons.
