@Edent I have a lot of discomfort with ICANN here in two key areas, that both involve money:

- New gTLDs make ICANN a lot of money, to the tune that they have approved multiple obviously bad ideas probably because it's profitable for them.

- The UDRP process is massively expensive compared to the cost of registration, so it's basically useless. All things are legal which can be settled for less money than an ICANN dispute.

"I can understand why .bid and .loan are popular with scammers. But why .mobi?!" -> because the avg user has 0 clue about what a domain name is, what its parts are and what they signify. Not to mention URLs...

"What can be done?" -> So far I could only think of enforcing a strict domain allow list for users (at the endpoint/browser) who don't know better.
