Anyone know how you block texts from a company, where it doesn't have an accompanying number, on Android?

Some prat keeps using one of my numbers with Sainsbury's (who I never use), so I'm getting loads of texts from them but it doesn't qualify as a valid number so keeps telling me it won't block it.

@babe Is it worth reaching out to Sainsburys privacy team?

@aidan_walsh I contacted customer services but all they could recommend was blocking it. Since a customer is entering it they seemed a bit powerless

@alex since it's not a number you can't reply to it at all. It's doing my head in

@babe I agree with @alex, your phone number is your personal data that Sainsbury is handling without your consent. I don't know what the situation is in the UK, but sending an e-mail mentioning "GDPR" usually does the trick on the continent.

@babe My android text message app has a menu option inside a "conversation" for Block and Report Spam. You might try this if you have it.

@samloonie It just tells me "Can't block.. because it isn't a valid number"

I put on my 'I'm a really good lawyer' badge and sent them an email featuring such words as 'compliance', 'consent', etc so let's see what happens

@babe If they really don't verify if a given phone number opts-in to their spam you most definitely shouldn't write a script that just sends in all possible phone numbers and then you absolutely should not buy a bag of popcorn to watch how they handle the PR fallout when all of the country is bombarded with their shit, while they spend a fortune on carrier costs.

@babe if that doesn't work, I'll take care of it. Liam Neeson style

@healyn Thank you healyn. I think you'd look spectacular jumping over a fence from 17 separate angles in a weird over the top scene better placed in an advertisement than movie
