It's 2025 and I tried to buy a book online:
- Had to register a new account
- Had to chat with a bot
- Had a card declined
- Fell back to rent instead of buy
- Got an OTP SMS
- Still can't download the book

I now have a pirated copy (took 2 clicks) and my refund is on the way.

That's awful! Many of us indie authors have our own direct buy stores that will get you the book quickly & you will own it rather than renting.

@crcollins unfortunately part of the problem is that the independet stores UX was simply shit as if they didn't really want my money...

It seems like 2025 is a lie.
I, too, am living in 2025 — but in a tent made of fabric that doesn't keep my children warm.
My daughter Sila is sick from the constant cold.
I still wash clothes by hand until my skin cracks, even though there are automatic washing machines.
I still cook over fire, even though gas stoves exist.
2025 is the tragedy of war.💔
