@buherator i literally can’t learn any other way, and I’ve never understood why scientific education prefers dumping ‘facts and equations’ rather than going through the thought process of those who discovered the very things. Learning intuition around things is by far more valuable than memorising equations.

@qwertyoruiop @buherator that was one of my biggest problems when doing my Math BSc. Related to that, and math-biased (but really applies to science/tech in general) I highly recommend reading on Lockhart’s “A Mathematician’s Lament” for a nice rant, and also “Measurement” for a “play around and discover interesting and beautiful facts on your own” approach to knowledge, using geometry as an excuse.

@arnaugamez @qwertyoruiop ooh this brings back some memories: we got this brilliant, likely-on-the-spectrum replacement teacher in high school for a class. He showed us some of his famous "one line" geometry exercises: the tasks seemed impossible until you found that one line to draw, then they became beautiful. What I still don't know is the *process* of finding that one line...
