@0xabad1dea “if you get a lucky kernel pool layout the UAF doesn't crash”
Wait is that why Microsoft is telling people to just reboot over and over again??
@tookmund I haven't seen Microsoft officially post that anywhere but if you leave it bootlooping long enough it might eventually stabilize long enough to pull the replacement update yes
@0xabad1dea I heard this actually works some of the time, because of some race condition or something. But you have to do a bunch of times. IDK might be internet legend at this point.
@briankrebs Microsoft said that multiple customers told them directly it happened https://azure.status.microsoft/en-us/status
@0xabad1dea @briankrebs interesting...on some customers it only showed the M365 App services were having some issues nothing much on Azure https://status.cloud.microsoft.com
@falsafa @briankrebs that is a completely different outage, yes it's confusing
@briankrebs @0xabad1dea 15 is the magic number, apparently https://www.404media.co/to-fix-crowdstrike-blue-screen-of-death-simply-reboot-15-straight-times-microsoft-says/
@0xtero it's not magic, there's nothing specific about 15, it's random but not so random that it's a 1-in-1000 chance.
@0xabad1dea me last night when streaming, sigh. Power outage did ??????????? yet a second reboot fixed it
@sertaptap if it got weird immediately after a power outage then two minutes later was fine, it was probably a capacitor that needed to drain.
