1) Extract email safely: extract-msg --save-header < mail.msg >

2) Check from/received (gateway)

3) Check IP-repuration

4) Check SPF/DMARC/DKIM with https://github.com/sthierolf/network-automation-scripts/blob/master/dds-quick-test.py

5) Check IP/domain actually belongs to the sender!

I was in my local bookstore today, where I worked for many years, and I just want to cast out to the universe again: If you want things like bookstores and groovy restaurants etc in your local neighborhoods, support them. There was some relief during covid, but now lots more people are buying online and a lot of local biz is on the brink & you may not realize. Not everybody can do it, I know, but if you can, and you care about yr town, remember to put some online stuff back into your community.
