What is your desert island 8-bit computer?
(You will have power and endless software for your chosen system)
@RobeeShepherd @electron_greg Hmmm... Z80 computer with an AY sound chip that needs soldering... that sounds familiar ;-)
@rc2014 @RobeeShepherd @electron_greg wasn't the Vectrex 6809-based?
Although I love 'em all, especially the New Brain, because of the boldness of its name and it was a beaut.
@electron_greg Camputer's Lynx, Finally it would get the software it deserved.
@Extelec
NICE! I remember seeing one in Peterborough's shopping centre when it was launched. I entered a competition to win one and convinced myself I would!
@electron_greg I have 2 (maybe three) and an emulated one with a PiPico.
Very much underrated, and of course destroyed by the BBC and Arari.
@electron_greg And not forgetting its best feature. Fractional line numbers in basic. yes, 55.5 goto 10.2 was valid :)
@electron_greg Not when you are adding in lines in between other lines in basic.
How often have you run out of line numbers between 10 and 20 , not a problem :)
@Extelec
No indeed - actually useful, but still bonkers in the most endearing way.
I'll stick with "RENUM." on the Electron and Beeb.
@electron_greg It predated both, but yes, I get your point.
@millihertz @RobeeShepherd @electron_greg I was sure the Vectrex was Z80 based... right up until I double checked just now! [hangs head in shame]
@electron_greg: I feel like the Commodore 128 might be the most versatile commercially-sold choice considering gaming and productivity, even if there are certainly things on other platforms I'd miss.
