As developing a decent QA process for Linux distros seems to be impossible I don't get how enabling automatic updates by default seemed like a reasonable thing to do...

@buherator I think this is generally why the advice is that you shouldn’t actually have auto-updates turned on, by default the auto-update systems only apply security patches even if you enable them usually too

@froge In theory maybe, in practice these updates introduce breaking changes (see my mention of QA).

@buherator if you could, for example, set your system to be 3 patches behind other people's, would ya?

that said, I've usually been experiencing a bug that's always existed, not /suddenly experiencing a new bug that just appeared/, so I'm usually hitting refresh hoping for the update to XYZ bugfix...
