Money is a tremendous disincentivizer, in my experience.
When being paid, interesting activities become doldrums.
Nonetheless the crushing, constant necessity of acquiring money— and therefore being subjected to waged labor— produces (among other things) a general deadening of enthusiasm & hope. This (among other things) flowers into unspeakably vivid bitterness & alienation.
