Here are the five levels of #Linux server users:
Level 1 - Slackware
Level 2 - Red Hat Linux (now RHEL)
Level 3 - Debian
Level 4 - Ubuntu
Level 5 - Debian
I reached Level # five. What about you? π€
@nixCraft Does Unix count as level 0, negative numbers or a whole different scale? For reference:
Solaris -> CentOS -> Ubuntu
@nixCraft my first linux server was slackware in 1995... it came with a Dobbshead printed on the cd and I knew I was in love
@nixCraft wel I installed debian on my laptop recently - never used 1 or 2 so what level am I (3 or 5 or 0 ?).
currently using desktop mode of my stealdeck that's based on arch with KDE
@nixCraft I skipped level one, would put myself about 4.5 now.
@nixCraft What level is installing arch on a laptop you found in the walls, turning off its ability to go to sleep, and installing minecraft server on it? Im going to say level -1.
@nixCraft exactly the same π, but changing RedHat with Mandrake/Mandriva/Mageia.
@nixCraft Hahahah I remember trying to setup Slackware once a long time ago. Let's just say I wasn't successful.
@nixCraft Level Unknown: it seems, openSUSE MicroOS.
@nixCraft I'm on Ubuntu. I'm relying on docker engine so the only choices are RHEL, CentOS Stream, Ubuntu and Debian. But Ubuntu never failed me over the years so I rly don't see a reason to change.
