Sorry about the infosec.place outage. What I expected to be a routine 30 second upgrade has taken me 3 hours to get back to the prior version...

I just applied the latest version of Akkoma to this instance which fixes some security issues. It looks like upgrade was not clean, but it's early and I'm not able to reproduce the issue, nor see any signs that the upgrade didn't work, but if you run into a problem, please let me know.

Hello Infosec.place. I am taking the server down for a while this evening to migrate to a new (and less expensive) server.

One thing I am not a fan of with akkoma is the way the timelines jump. The smooth way mastodon adds posts one at a time to the top of the timeline is very nice in comparison.

I fiddled with some config settings on Infosec.place and it feels much less sluggish now. I need to get the search engine off the server - that thing hits the server pretty hard

If your $dayjob is at all related to security, I'd love to hear from you about what type of mobile phone you currently rely on.

I've never really seen a data-based breakdown of the answer to this question, and I'm genuinely curious. Thanks!

A downside to akkoma is that there's no native ios client. The akkoma website lists "fedi", however the apple app store indicates fedi is not available in my region (USA)

Interesting observation: akkoma's front end looks MUCH nicer in firefox than in MS edge

Notable changes are:
- quote boosts now show up as a reply to the boosted post
- posts can be tagged with a language
- support for mastodon-style link verification in the user profile

I continue to be impressed at the quote boost and search capabilities of akkoma.

TikTok needs a "my wife fell asleep again while watching a view about reorganizing shelves" mode to detect that she's fallen asleep and move on to the next video for the sake of people around her...

It's a small thing, but the little instance logos after usernames are *adorable*!

And a neat way of telling what *sort* of instance they're on - it shows the software and version when you mouse over!
