Just realised the bitter irony of airlines being unable to fly airplanes, designed according to reliability and diversity principles (excluding recent Boeing models), because your operations run on an operating system inheriting code from the 1980s but "enhanced" over the years like layers of an onion with absolutely no regard whatsoever for reliability never mind diversity - the ultimate monoculture.
Basically like basing all your business on a single variant of banana and not realising that they are all clones, ready to be exterminated by a parasite / fungus /whatnot¹.
Linux is not the solution, BSD isn't the solution either, the solution is not to run critical systems on toy operating systems which are simply not resilient.
@buherator perhaps not WarCon since that one's finished… we'll see, I've toyed with the idea of an invite-only conference in Switzerland in forever but $$ is prohibitive.
I'm also writing a paper on "anti-systems" which I hope will be taken seriously, one day.
